About Lessons

Instructor:

Yoshie Kubota, M.M. (Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from Mannes College of Music in New York 1990) and NLP Practitioner

Private Piano Lessons: Ages (4~Adult) From beginners to advanced.

Music Theory, Ear Training : All ages and all levels.

Languages spoken: English and Japanese

★Lesson curriculums are designed for each individual students. (Each student is unique and has different learning pace. My goal is to help them get their life lasting joy of playing the piano, for both physically and mentally. )

★Lots of performance opportunities in different settings(both formal and friendly settings) and will build up students’ performing experience and strength.

★Students will learn and develop step by step for finger techniques, reading skills(understanding rhythms, notes, articulations, dynamics and phrasings), and fundamentals of music theory as well as bring out their musical expression, and how to use their body(how to relax your body when playing the piano), how to produce a nice and beautiful sound throughout from the beginner level to advanced level using well balanced method books and technique book + various musical repertoires using piano literature books for many different styles and different composers’ works.

★Preparation for competitions and exams for serious students as well.

Lesson Courses and Tuition

Regular Private Piano Lessons（Every week） 4 years ~ Adult

Beginners（minimum 30 minutes）：$40/30 min.
Early Intermediate（minimum 30 min. and 45 min.）$40/30 min.　$50/45 min.
Intermediate（minimum 45 min. and 60 min.）$50/45 min.　$60/60 min.
Advanced（minimum 60 min. and 90 min.）$60/60 min.　$90/90 min.

Preparation for piano exam and competition course（minimum 60 min. course and 90 min. course）: $ 70/60 min.　$100/90 min.

（This fee includes：Private lesson, Theory check, Ear Training, Mental support）

Skype lesson（Upon request）From a beginner to advanced students but older than 7~8 years old at least.

Summer Intensive Course：（Private or Group lessons upon request）

＊Method books, Music Scores, and Fees for Recitals are not included for basic tuition.

Studio Policy

Please come on time for your scheduled time as much as you can.

Otherwise, you will miss part of your lesson time.

Lesson will not be extended.

Cancelling a lesson by you:

* Last minute cancel on the day of scheduled lesson or no-show:

No refund or make up lesson will be offered.

* Notified at least 24 hours before your scheduled lesson time:

Reschedule for a make up lesson as much as possible.

Cancelling a lesson by me:

* Full refund/credit to the next month

or a make up lesson will be provided.

In the case of severe weather or state of emergency:

* Reschedule lesson time to another day.

Or Skype lesson is available on the scheduled lesson time

if you prefer.

*I will hand envelope at the end of each month, and please pay tuition for a month

(usually 4 or 5 lessons) at the first lesson of the each month. If you need to cancel

your lesson and let me know 1 day prior to your scheduled lesson, I will arrange a

make up lesson. (Please follow the rules of my studio policy.)

About Yoshie Kubota

Yoshie Kubota has been teaching private piano lessons since 1984.

Her students have won competitions and awards. She has served as a judge for piano grading event as well. She also has experience for group piano lessons for young children at Pace Kinder music and Eurythmics class when she was in New York.

*Students are given many performing chances in different settings(both formal and friendly settings) and will build up their performing experience and strength.

*I understand each student is unique and has different learning pace. My goal is to help them get their life lasting joy of playing the piano, for both physically and mentally.

*Very beginner level students play with me or their parents or siblings to enjoy playing without too much pressure but can feel rich sound from the beginning level.

Active Member of MTNA(Music Teachers National Association) and MSMTA(Maryland State Music Teachers Association) as well as MTAGB(Music Teachers Association of Great Baltimore).

(Students can participates recitals, fun performing events, grade tests, competitions held by these organizations through out year when students are ready and willing to participate.)

Active Member of BMTA(Baltiomre Music Teachers Association,Inc.) Executive Board Member since 2008 and 2nd vice president of BMTA since 2010 to present.

(Student who are ready to perform can participate BMTA Student Recitals in November, February, April, June and Piano Competitions in May held at Morgan University’s Carl Murphy Fine Arts Center. )

Active Member of American College of Musicians USA(National Guild of Piano Teachers).

Past Member of NFMC(National Federation of Music Clubs)

Grading exams programs such as The Royal Conservatory and American College of Musicians USA(National Guild of Piano Teachers) if students are willing to take exams.

Also, Kubota Music Studio student recital in Winter and Spring.
